Hostway announces Dual Core IBM server promo featuring two months FREE and doubled RAM
London - January 14th, 2008 - Hostway, a global web hosting leader, domain name registrar, and enterprise managed hosting provider today announced that it is offering new customers a two month discount as part of a 12 month contract, on any of its new IBM sourced dedicated servers. Customers joining in January and February this year will also automatically have their RAM allocation doubled as part of the package.
The offering from Hostway UK currently features the latest IBM servers which deliver the patented ‘X-Architecture’ technology to the mainstream hosting market. In addition to helping improve energy management, IBM System X™ and BladeCenter® servers are proven to help optimize performance, reliability and manageability for a potentially lower cost of ownership. The servers also feature Intel's already highly lauded dual-core processors.
In addition to the technology benefits, Hostway customers will also see noticeable performance gains thanks to a doubling of the allotted RAM quota, especially when higher demand applications or intense web serving are involved. Hostway customers can choose between their preferred Linux configuration or Windows2003 Server, with savings of over £300 available on the entry-level Linux HW100 alone (Dual Core Intel Xeon 3040 1.87GHz, 1GB RAM (DDR2), 2 x 73Gb SAS).
Each dedicated server plan is backed by Hostway's 24/7 enterprise technical support team and Hostway’s secure datacentre infrastructure in the heart of London's Docklands.
Hostway also recently debuted a new Content Delivery Network, incorporating significantly reduced web page load times facilitated by new Edge Caching techniques. According to the company, Edge Caching uses patent-pending technology to reduce web site abandonment by cutting the time that it takes for web pages with large images or multimedia files to load. Many studies have shown that people simply click away from a web site that takes more than a few seconds to load and Edge Caching, it is claimed, improves the user experience by speeding delivery of content to the visitor’s browser.
The Edge Caching content delivery network is a group of servers strategically deployed in data centers across four continents (North America, Europe, Asia and Australia). The servers work together to determine the fastest path to speed the data to the user’s screen via cached versions of identical web pages. For example, without Edge Caching, a web page displaying multiple product images might take 3 to 30 seconds to load, depending on the distance between the user and the server, regardless of Internet connection speed. The same page using Edge Caching will load in less than .5 seconds, regardless of the distance from server to user. That time differential may be all it takes to lose a prospective customer to the dreaded back button.
