Discounted .info domains on offer from Hostway this August

London, 2nd August, 2006 - Hostway Corporation, global Domain Name Registration provider through Vancouver based subsidiary DomainPeople Inc, have announced they will be reducing the price of first year new registrations of .INFO domain names, as part of a group-wide promotion this August.

"The .info extension is probably the most undervalued of all the second tier Top Level Domains (after .com .net. .org) on offer in my opinion. There is an clear and universally recognised association between it, and the search for information about any given topic, service, or organisation on the web, so it makes complete sense to have one as part of your domain portfolio." says Neil Barton, Director of Hostway UK.

.info is a generic top-level domain intended for informative websites, although its use is not restricted. It was a part of ICANN's highly publicized announcement, in late 2000, of a phased release of seven new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs). .info has been the most successful of the seven new domain names, with over 3 million domain names registered up to mid-2006. In addition, over 1.6 million .info websites are in active and dedicated use.

As a generic, unrestricted domain name, anyone can use .info for any purpose, similar to .com, .net or .org domains. In fact .info is the first and only top-level domain that was explicitly created and chartered for unrestricted use, though various other TLDs have ended up that way as a de facto situation. .info means Information in about 37 languages around the world, and is a neutral name.

.Info domains are available from Hostway UK Ltd (www.hostway.co.uk) at a cost of £1.49 for 1 year. After the first year, the annual cost of renewal returns to Hostway's standard price of £8.95 per year.
