Hostway offers customers immediate news alerts via new communications tool from Elertz

Tuesday 2nd October 2007 – Leading web hosting company, Hostway, is trialling a new web-based communication tool from Elertz to engage with its customers and proactively improve the customer experience. Offering web hosting for wide-ranging customers worldwide, from enterprise-level dedicated hosting to smaller business and personal website shared hosting, Hostway’s communication needs are many and varied.

The Elertz communication tool notifies Hostway’s customers when relevant news becomes available through a small flashing star in the browser. It will be used to issue notifications of maintenance issues, product changes and special offers, and allows the business to communicate with customers without resorting to increasingly unreliable channels such as email.

Nick Field, Marketing and CRM Manager of Hostway, explains, “Different people like to communicate in difference ways. Email is not always the best medium for communicating with all our customers, so we have been looking at other ways to pass information onto them. We are hoping that by offering an alternative way to receive information in conjunction with traditional email, we can eliminate any potential information deficits. Ultimately, this free-of-charge alternative is intended to add value to the service we offer our customers.”

The trial period will be used to gauge customer interest and uptake. If it is well received among customers, the Elertz tool could also become part of the Hostway offering, allowing customers to use the tool on their own websites.
