1. What is a .Pro domain name?

2. Why do I need one?

Trust in the business world is difficult to establish. A .Pro domain gives additional credibility and confidence to your business as only registrants that are in good standing with their licensing entity are permitted to register a .Pro domain. In short, the .Pro TLD offers professionals a distinctive presence on the Internet, and allows individuals to be associated with a domain name space which represents exclusivity, security and distinction.

3. How much does .pro cost?

• To help you get started, and for a limited time only, we are offering .Pro domains at 70% off their normal retail value at £11.95+VAT for first year registrations, renewals and transfers!
  
• If you purchase for more than 1 yr, those subsequent years will be offered to you at 30% off normal retail price - at £19.95+VAT.
  
• Register your .Pro today to take advantage of the promotional price. Special promotional pricing only applies to second-level resolving domains registered between September 8th 2008 and January 1st, 2010. Regular prices for registrations, renewals and transfers from this time will be £29.95+VAT per year (subject to change).

4. What is the process for reserving a .Pro domain?

1. Register your .Pro domain by following the instructions on our secure orderform.
   
   
2. Once you have reserved and paid for your domain, you will be sent an 'Authentication & Verification' email from the registry requesting your professional eligibility information.
   
   
3. You must complete and return the A/V information by email within 44 days in order to have your domain resolve (be available on the web) succesfully.
   
   
4. If the registrant fails to supply their A/V information within the allotted time, the domain will automatically become available again to the general public on the 45th day following registration.
   
   
5. If your A/V information does not pass the registry test, you will have an opportunity to resubmit your professional information within a total of 30 days as per the email’s instructions. If satisfactory information is not supplied with 7 days the domain will be deactivated. On the 31st day following the initial request, the domain will be deleted.
   
   
6. We regret that we will NOT be able to refund monies relating to unsuccessful .Pro registrations as costs are already incurred at registry level for the processing of domain reservations and A/V information.

 
5. Is .Pro available in my country?

Yes! .Pro registrations are available internationally.

 
6. Will I be eligible to register a .Pro domain?

All licensed and credentialed professionals and professional entities who self-certify that they meet the eligibility requirements are able to register .Pro domains. You can register if you:

1. Are a person or entity who provides professional services and
2. You have been admitted to or licensed by a government certification body, or jurisdictional licensing entity recognized by a governmental body and
3. That body or licensing entity requires that its members be licensed or admitted to provide services and
4. You are in good standing
   
   

To determine if your business is eligible to qualify, the general idea is as follows. As long as the organization provides the service associated with its registration identification, and meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the domain registration agreement, the organization is eligible to register a second-level .pro domain. For example, a customer's business license states that they retail running shoes will be eligible if they use the .pro domain to sell shoes.

7. What are the eligible organizations or licenses?

The list is very extensive. If you have a business license, you’re likely to be eligible! If you are a professional fisher or plumber, you are also eligible! See Q&A 9 below for the information you are required to supply as part of the Authentication / Verification process.

8. Can a .Pro registrant be a professional organization instead of an individual professional?

A .Pro registrant may either be an individual professional or a professional organization. When the registrant is an organization, the organization can use its registration identification (e.g., business license) as its professional eligibility contact information. As long as the organization provides the service associated with its registration identification, and meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the registration agreement, the organization is eligible to register a second-level .Pro domain. For example, a customer's business license states that they retail running shoes will be eligible if they use the .Pro domain to sell shoes.

 
9. What information will be required from me to register my domain?

All applicants will need to submit personal and professional information in order to be eligible for a .Pro domain. Information includes:

• Name
• Profession
• Date of Birth, or Date of Registration
• Jurisdictional Country
• Licensing Authority
• License Number
• Link to Licensing Authority's Web site

 
10.Will my professional credentials be subject to review?

Yes, the Registry will monitor new and renewed .Pro domains to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of their agreements. You may be required to provide additional information to the Registry in order to activate as well as retain your domain in the future.

 
11. I received an email notification from the Registry that my professional eligibility information did NOT pass their test. What do I need to do?

If your A/V information does not pass the registry test, you will have an opportunity to resubmit your professional information within a total of 30 days as per the email’s instructions. If satisfactory information is not supplied with 7 days the domain will be deactivated. On the 31st day following the initial request, the domain will be deleted.

 
12. Will I need to do anything else after I register and submit my professional information?

Other than renewing your domain when it is close to expiring, registrants are required to agree to the Terms of Use (TOU) annually and to re-verify professional eligibility. Since your professional eligibility information is valid for one year, you will be required to reconfirm that you meet eligibility requirements and agree to the TOU on an annual basis. The Registry, RegistryPro, will send you an email at the end of each year to do so.
