Spending on the advertising of ecommerce websites will increase by around 11 per cent in 2011, according to a new survey.
The equities research team at Deutsche Bank predicted that budgets will expand even further over the next 12 months as display adverts and paid searches are increasingly used as a way of expanding a brand.
Furthermore, it is expected that the increase in marketing spending will continue through to 2015, representing a positive medium-term outlook, reports mediapost.com.
The team of analysts, led by internet analyst Jeetil Patel, told the news provider that online advertising will "continue to grow" in the coming years.
"Advertisers are increasingly dedicating separate budgets for mobile, indicating that mobile ad spend is slowly moving out of the 'experimentation' phase," they said.
Last week it was announced that video advertising on the internet had trebled in 2010.
Web TV Enterprise reported 118 of the 154 advertisers it asked were using video advertising for the first time, suggesting they would continue to do so in the future.
