The adoption of software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications within businesses is "huge" as companies look to outsource their IT needs and save money.
That is according to Spencer Parker, group product manager at Websense, who said that cloud hosting companies know how to handle SaaS as IT managers at firms are normally "jack of all trades".
Furthermore, he believes that the popularity of SaaS is because of a recent trend in downsizing IT departments over the last few years.
Research published by Forrester last week (April 21st) revealed that SaaS will continue to grow in popularity in the coming years, becoming a key part of the expansion of cloud hosting services.
Mr Parker says that as well as it now mattering "where my web browser is anymore", security is also not an issue.
"The SaaS companies have to take the security of their customers' data utterly seriously – one breach and all those customers will go from that company to another one," he said.
