2012 will be the year of internet privacy, expert predicts
An increasing number of people will take care to get the correct firewall systems to protect their privacy in the coming 12 months.
This is according to one expert who has suggested that 2012 will be the year that people begin to evaluate their online presence and how private their information is.
Graham Jones, a professional speaker, psychologist, consultant and author, who specialises in the way people use the internet, said: "People are, at the moment, accepting the tentative steps being taken in mobile and online socialisation - but at heart, human beings are rather private."
He explained that there will be a backlash as more and more becomes known about the nature in which some websites store and save data - a technique that could be used by online shops to track customer behaviour.
Mr Jones added that people power will become a large driving force next year as individuals are realising that they can use the internet to challenge power and break unwanted systems.
According to Eoin Blacklock, managing director of KeepItSafe, a company specialising in security measures, 2012 will see a growing demand for advanced computing technologies such as the cloud and virtualisation services.
