phpMyAdmin for MySQL Databases

What is phpMyAdmin?
phpMyAdmin is an open-source program that allows a Linux users to administer MySQL databases graphically through a Web-based application, making the process easier and more intuitive. In other words, phpMyAdmin offers customers a GUI alternative to the traditional MySQL command prompt interface.

How Can I Use It?
phpMyAdmin is freely accessible from within Site Control for all users that add a MySQL database to their hosting plan. As soon as you have added the database, simply click on the name of the MySQL database listed in the 'Manage Features' section of SiteControl. phpMyAdmin wil then launch within SiteControl.
phpMyAdmin can also be accessed through the “Manage MySQL Databases” link in the 'Website Tools' section. This link will open a list of your MySQL databases. Clicking their names will launch phpMyAdmin.
Does It Cost Anything?
No, phpMyAdmin is free to use with all Linux hosting plans at Gold level and above, and is part of the Hostway web hosting plan feature-set. However, depending on your hosting plan there may be a fee for the MySQL database.
What Can I Do With phpMyAdmin?
You can essentially do everything you used to do with the command prompt, including:
Create, copy, drop, rename and alter tables.
Perform table maintenance.
Delete, add, and edit fields.
Execute any SQL statement and batch queries.
Manage keys on fields.
Create and read dumps of tables.
Export data to CSV, XML, and Latex formats.
Search globally in a database or its subset.
Support InnoDB tables and foreign keys.
Languages
phpMyAdmin supports 47 languages, any one of which you can select with a drop-down menu on the home page.
Version
The current installed version is 2.6.2.
Caveats
Customers that do not host DNS with us will need to add a CNAME record that points towards the IP of their database server. Customers are provided with IP information when they set up a database. If they do not record this information, they will need to contact Support for confirmation of the IP.
Linux Managed server customers that use an installation of MySQL 4.1 and above cannot presently use phpMyAdmin. The functionality for these versions currently requires additional packages and will be released in the future.
Support
phpMyAdmin is a well-established open-source application with numerous resources on the Web. As with all third-party tools, Hostway's support and documentation for phpMyAdmin is limited and furthermore restricted to our implementation. Assistance regarding the usage of phMyAdmin or self-installed phpMyAdmin is beyond the scope of our Support. However, if you are unable to access phpMyAdmin via SiteControl or it fails to connect to your database, then please contact our Support Team.
